We are pleased to announce two new directors have joined 12 Guitars as Year 2 gets underway.
We are happy to welcome Stephen Dunn and Ken Morton who have both been working with 12 Guitars since the launch in the Summer of 2019 joined the Board on July 31st.
Gerry Thorogood one of our co-founders along with Steve Plummer, commented
“Since our launch in 2019, Stephen has been instrumental in setting up the approach to engaging our community with innovative competitions and events including a guitar signed by Ed Sheeran during his world record-breaking Divide Tour that we will be launching a global prize draw for in September. He has also brokered valuable relationships within the professional musician and manufacturer communities. Ken has been delivering technical services for us since 2019 to make sure that we can up-cycle and re-cycle guitars and maintain the standard of our loan pool. He has also been shaping our sales and commercial strategy and tactics, to make sure that we can drive the revenues needed to fund our social enterprise goals and objectives and has been pivotal in securing partnerships with Rotosound Guitar Strings and the Music Industry’s MusicforAll Charity”
Stephen is a singer/songwriter and live entertainer, performing covers and original songs in venues across Scotland and throughout the UK. Stephen also manages Ecosse-EV, Scotland’s only all-electric ground transportation company to combine a first-class chauffeur service with the environmental benefit of zero-emissions travel.
Ken is the founder of Morton Guitars. He is a highly experienced guitar technician and luthier and has been playing, building, repairing, upgrading, buying and selling electric, acoustic and bass guitars for most of his life. He specialises in taking old, broken, unloved and un-played guitars and bringing them back to life so they play really well for someone new to cherish and make music on them again. Ken is also a highly experienced sales and commercial professional with many years in the IT sector.
“These key appointments to our Senior Leadership Team add strength and depth as we go into our second year. Stephen and Ken bring vast music and business expertise and experience and will add rigour to our sales, operations and tuition workstreams. They all have huge enthusiasm for supporting young people and for guitar playing, which is the perfect blend for 12 Guitars. The fact that they all also have successful business careers and a wealth of knowledge and contact networks make these really great appointments for 12 Guitars”
Co-Founder, Steve Plummer
